Diabetic Care

15 Oct 2567

Diabetes is a serious disease that can not be cured but rigidly keep a balance of your daily and round-the-clock consumption. Deliberate diabetes care can effectively reduce your risk of serious or even life-threatening complications.

There are ways to perfect diabetic care for your better well-being.

  • Be punctual on regular diabetes doctor appointments and follow the doctor’s prescription, medication, food consumption adjustment to manage your blood sugar and cholesterol level, exercise activity, eye checkup, foot care, and other advice on your specific health care.
  • Don’t smoke. Avoid smoking or quit smoking if you smoke. Smoking increases your risk of type 2 diabetes and the risk of various diabetes complications, including:
**Reduced blood flow in the legs and feet, which can lead to infections, non-healing ulcers and possible amputation
                    **Worse blood sugar control
                    **Heart disease
                    **Stroke
**Eye disease, which can lead to blindness
                    **Nerve damage
                    **Kidney disease
                    **Premature death
  • Keep your blood pressure and cholesterol under control. High blood pressure can damage your blood vessels. High cholesterol is a concern, too, since the resulting damage is often worse and more rapid when you have diabetes. High blood pressure and high cholesterol can lead to a heart attack, stroke, or other life-threatening conditions. Eating a healthy, reduced-fat, and low-salt diet, avoiding excess alcohol, and exercising regularly can go a long way toward controlling high blood pressure and cholesterol.
  • Keep your vaccines up to date. Routine vaccines can help prevent certain illnesses that can easily worsen your health. Vaccination services like flu vaccine, pneumonia vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, and other long-term effect vaccines; tetanus.
  • Decrease or quit alcohol drinking. Alcohol can cause high or low blood sugar, depending on how much you drink and whether you eat at the same time. If you choose to drink, do so only in moderation, and also, be aware that alcohol can lead to low blood sugar later, especially for people who use insulin.
  • Stress management. To manage your stress, set limits, prioritize your tasks, learn relaxation techniques, and get plenty of sleep. And above all, stay positive, diabetes care is within your control. If you're willing to do your part, diabetes won't hinder an active, healthy life.
